Meet Sebastian! 9-24 Update:
Sebs has developed a love of cuddling. If you need a Velcro puppy to stick to your side, Sebastian is the one for you. He has adjusted well to the house and he will need a belly band long term inside the house. Sebastian enjoys walks and playing with toys. He is relaxing and is such a dear to be around. He is a happy little senior citizen who is looking for a comfy couch and bed to enjoy. He is a loving dog and once he trusts you, you will become the apple of his eye and the owner of his heart.
Sebastian is a sweet boy being fostered in Central California. He is very spunky at about 10 years old. He loves to play with toys and be cuddled. He enjoys playing with other dogs. He also enjoys chasing chickens. Good thing they have their own yard. Taking a walk or a ride in the car is a treat to be treasured. He has a good appetite. He is missing a few teeth, but that doesn’t stop him from eating anything. Sebastian loves to cuddle in the bed or on the couch. He really wants your attention and will let you know if he thinks he is being neglected. He has mastered the art of spinning and will spin for dinner or treats or to be given attention.
We cannot really speculate where Sebastian has been in his life, but for all his sweetness he has a few fear issues. He is working on overcoming these and we have seen marked progress since he has been here. Sebastian does not mark, but he does have accidents. When he has to go, he has to go. He does not give a lot of warning. He goes out every two hours or so and so mostly avoids having accidents in the house, but he wears a belly band to be safe. After an accident, he is quite fearful. He will cower and be afraid to pass his human on the way in or out of the door. With praise and encouragement there is hope of this fearfulness fading away. Sebastian also is a little fearful of men. He will cower, yelp and bite at (but not actually make significant contact) a man who he fears. The foster dad in the house is working with him to help him over this issue. Hopefully in time, this will also fade.
Sebastian does have vision trouble. He cannot tell if a sliding door is open or closed. After he crashed into it, we put stickers all over ours to make sure he could see it. He is still leery of the door, but he absolutely loves to run full boar, bounding over the steps and into the house. As an older dog, he has a few lipomas and moles that will need watching, but currently they are not an issue.
In short, Sebastian is an adorable crested boy looking for a home with love, patience, maybe a doggie door, and someone who is willing to give him the time and space he needs to become confident that his people will not hurt him. He will return your love with all of his doggy affection.
